THUMBELINA Spring 13

THUMBELINA Spring 13

Thumbelina– Summer 2013

Inspired by the children’s storybook Thumbelina written by Hans Christian Andersen and first published by C.A Reitzel in 1835. The idea of a small adventurous flower child who found love captivated Amber, she felt an immediate connection to this character. A modern twist on an old fairytale was achieved through the use of a bold colour palette, silk dresses, sweet tops and floral shorts. These garments are perfect for summer events, where woman can embrace their girly side!  Thumbelina encapsulates Amber’s love of flowers, lace and colour, and this collection reflects that, with a feminine charm that the story creates.

This range was designed alongside the Meraki Winter Collection, allowing for the two to mix in your wardrobe. Coincidntly in commentaries found on Thumbelina, folklorist Maria Tatar detects parallels between Andersen’s tales and the Greek myth of Demeter.
