Last night I hosted an evening to launch my new High Winter 2014 Collection “Women in Red”. I was lucky enough to have some great sponsors; The Sweet Eatery, Scarlett’s Spritzers and Karen Murrell Lipsticks. Thank you to all the Media, friends/family and VIP customers that made an effort to come out in the awful auckland weather. I really appreciated your support!
The collection is now available to buy online: www.amberwhitecliffe.com/shop and I have updated my website so that your shopping experience is much easier! So go check it out!

I love my new location in Parnell. I am slowly discovering and rediscovering my favourite places and wanted to share them with you…..Here are my top 3 for this week….Together they make a perfect weekend adventure- I dare you!
1. Chocolate Boutique
This famous little New Zealand Dessert Cafe has got to be number one for me! I was so excited when I found out they were my neighbors! You’ll be amazed by this quaint little candy shop and cafè full of delicious handmade chocolates, French macaroons, candy in jars like an old school diary, desserts, coffees (not just your regular coffees but flavours such as hazelnut, peanut butter and mint!), hot/iced chocolates, and luxurios gifts! I recommend the Italian Denso or the Death by Chocolate
2. Passion for Paper
My second addiction after fabric is paper! I am obsessed with beautiful paper and brand new stationaery. Don’t you love the smell of a brand new unwritten journal! This paper store has all the treats for a stationery freak like me! Products come from all over the world. Located at 217 Parnell Road.
3. La Cigale French Markets
My favourite thing to do on a saturday or sunday morning is go for a run or a long walk and finish up at the French markets for a coffee and a bakery treat! This bustling place is set up like a local market with various vendors selling fresh fruits and vegetables, bread and pastries, coffee and cupcakes located at the top of St Georges Bay Road, number 69, open Sat & Sun 8am-1.30pm.
Over the weekend, my husband and I went down to Windy Wellington where I competed as a finalist in the prestigious Miromoda Maori Fashion Design Awards. I am very excited to announce that I came second equal in the Established Designer Section! and have secured a spot in the Miromoda show at New Zealand Fashion Week for 2014. The event was so much fun and really well run thanks to Ata Te Kanawa, Montess Hughes and the wonderful models from Kirsty Bunny Management. The judges; Dame Pieter Stewart and Lucire publisher Jack Yan were very receptive to my collection and the positive feedback was so nice to hear after all my hard work! I really enjoyed getting to know other Maori designers from all around New Zealand, it didn’t feel like a competition at all-more like a celebration of talent! I want to keep the range a surprise for Fashion week but here is a sneak peek below! I look forward to showing you the rest in August.

You may of seen that I got married recently! I feel so lucky to have found the man of my dreams, it was a very special day, that I will never forget.
I now understand even more the financial stress and effort that goes into a wedding, but also how fun and full of love the day & journey is!
This makes me even more excited and prepared for weddings that I help with in the future. I am currently making bridesmaid dresses for two weddings and I have done my very best to make them affordable, beautiful and the process of designing/fitting super easy. The excitement around a wedding is such a joy to be a part of and I’m thrilled this side of my business is increasing.
My job was made incredibly easy for my own wedding as my bridesmaids are all absolute babes and so supportive of me! Weather in Auckland can be so unpredictable, especially in autumn so I designed summery dresses with matching tailored jackets for warmth. Elroy and I chose a colour palette of white, gold, cream and navy (for the boys) with a ‘classy rustic’ theme. I wanted the girls to have fun in their outfits, so I made a simple singlet top that was flattering and comfortable, and a silk circle skirt, which looked so pretty as they danced! The jackets featured side ruffles and were made of a wool/silk jacquard. I also made the little flower girl’s outfit. Similar to the girls but a junior version; a t-shirt out of the same lace fabric tucked into a tutu skirt, a long sleeved bolero in the gold wool and then finished it off with hand sewn flowers across the waistband of skirt and an elastic headband.

I have recently had quite a few orders for pieces from my last year’s winter range Meraki-as a selection of them were in such high demand I have re-cut those styles and popped them instore, so if you havn’t already; come check out this very popular range. My favourite is the Athena Jacket, its made from a Tangerine Wool Cashmere Poly (the 20% polyester makes the fabric have a felt like quality on the surface, meaning it wont pill and will stay looking crisp and pristine for much longer-ideal huh!), perfect for this extremely cold weather in NZ!!

Homemade infused water. Just add the fruit and let it sit for or at least 30 minutes, or for amazing results-about 4 hours before drinking. And drink it out of a jar with a paper straw-just cause thats what all the cool cats do! It looks so refreshing doesn’t it?, gosh makes me want summer to come back! However I am sure you could do it with boiling water and create home made tea! yum…….
Why should you drink infused waters? Because infused waters are good for detoxification energy and hydration. Here are some flavour suggestions and what they do…
1. Green tea, mint, and lime – For fat burning, digestion, headaches, congestion and breath freshener.
2. Strawberry and kiwi – For cardiovascular health, immune system protection, blood sugar regulation, digestion.
3. Cucumber, lime, and lemon – For water weight management, bloating, appetite control, hydration, digestion
4. Lemon, lime, and orange – For digestion vitamin C, immune defense, heartburn, (Drink this one at room temperature)
